The SAT still opens doors to top colleges and scholarships in 2026. And now it's digital, adaptive, and shorter. Here's a proven 8-week study plan that takes students from average to excellent.

Know the Digital SAT

The SAT is now fully digital and adaptive: 2 hours 14 minutes, with Reading/Writing and Math modules that adjust difficulty based on your answers. You'll take it on a Bluebook app — practice on the same app, because familiarity with the interface is free points.

The 8-Week Plan

Study 5–8 hours a week for 8 weeks. Weeks 1–2: take a full practice test and learn the format. Weeks 3–6: target your weakest areas (not your favorites — be honest). Weeks 7–8: full timed tests under real conditions. Consistency beats cramming every single time.

Best Free Resources

You don't need a $1,000 course. Khan Academy's official SAT prep (partnered with College Board) is excellent and free. The Bluebook practice tests are the most realistic. For math gaps, review algebra fundamentals — the SAT tests basics under time pressure, not advanced math.

Test-Day Strategy

Answer every question — there's no penalty for guessing. On adaptive modules, the first module matters most: do well and you get harder (higher-scoring) second modules. Sleep 8 hours, eat normally, and arrive 30 minutes early. Anxiety is the real score-killer.

A top SAT score is a learnable skill, not a talent. Follow the plan, practice under pressure, and walk in on test day already knowing exactly what to expect.
