World Cup 2026 Tickets: How to Buy, Prices and Scams to Avoid

World Cup 2026 tickets are among the most in-demand sports tickets ever sold. With 104 matches and millions of fans competing, buying the right way matters — and buying the wrong way can cost you thousands. Here is how to get legitimate tickets at fair prices.

Official FIFA Sales Phases

FIFA sells tickets in phases: an early ballot/lottery for all matches, then first-come-first-served sales, then last-minute sales closer to the tournament. Always start at FIFA.com/tickets — the only official source. Create your FIFA ticketing account early, verify your email, and enter every ballot you are eligible for. Hospitality packages (through official FIFA hospitality partners) are pricier but guaranteed.

Realistic Price Ranges

Group-stage tickets for less glamorous matches start at relatively affordable prices, while the final can cost several thousand dollars at face value. Category 1 (best seats) costs multiples of Category 3. Prices rise with each round — quarter-finals and semi-finals sit in the middle. Budget for fees on top of face value, and remember that dynamic pricing may apply in later sales phases.

Scams to Avoid

Never buy from random social media sellers, messaging apps or unfamiliar websites promising "guaranteed final tickets." Common scams include fake PDF tickets, stolen screenshots and listings for tickets the seller does not own. FIFA tickets are typically personalized and delivered via the official app close to matchday — anyone offering instant downloads months early is lying. If a deal looks too good to be true, it is.

Smart Buying Strategy

Apply for the matches you truly want in the ballot, be flexible on cities (Kansas City or Seattle may be easier than New York), and consider group-stage double-headers in one city to save on travel. Set a strict budget before sales open — hype makes overspending easy. And keep our tickets guide bookmarked; we will update it as each sales phase is announced.

Done right, seeing a World Cup match live is unforgettable. Buy official, stay skeptical of resellers, and enjoy the greatest show on earth.
